Loteprednol

This unique, "site-specific" steroid is an ester-based formulation. The drug renders a potent anti-inflammatory effect, then is subsequently broken down into inert components by resident tissue esterases. this explains why typical steroid-associated side-effects are none to nonexistant with this medication.  It is available in both a 0.5% suspension (Lotemax) and a 0.2% suspension (Alrex). Lotemax is approved for all steroid-resonsive conditions, including dry eye management.

Alrex is approved for treating ocular allergy, although it also performs well in Thygeron's SPK.
