Steroids with Maximum Clinical Action
Rimexolone 1%
 This steroid suspension (Vexol, Alcon) is clinically similar
to 1% prednisolone acetate, yet has a decreased tendency to
increase intraocular pressure.
Its safety profile is similar to the fluorometholones, which
gives it an enhanced margin of safety. Rimexolone is also the
first ophthalmic product approved for post-operative care of
cataract surgery patients.
This drug is also more user-friendly than other steroid suspensions.
Because of its unique suspension formulation, Vexol is easily
re-suspended simply by picking up the bottle and shaking it
minimally.
